Gabi Szűcs is one of Hungary's most outstandingly successful performers on the pop music scene. Whether singing her own songs or pop standards in English or Hungarian, her distinctive voice and passionate delivery never fail to captivate the audience.

"I don't remember exactly when it was that I decided to become a singer. Everything in my life took me in the direction of the stage, where I could have fun and reveal my heart, where I would be a woman and bring out the best in myself. Where I love the audience, and the audience loves me. Through my voice; through music.” A founding member of the Cotton Club Singers, she broke with the vocal group in 2007 after 14 years to discover a new musical world, and her artistic personality has evolved over the course of her solo career. Her unique ‘smoky' voice led her in the direction of swing and jazz, but she is also at home in the genres of pop and soul. Her powerful stage presence combines femininity with humour and energy.
Her Christmas concert will feature golden oldies from such artists as Ella Fitzgerald, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole and Bing Crosby, accompanied by a seven-man swing band boasting luminaries of Hungary's jazz world. The concert's novelty is the inclusion of the Bartók-Pásztory Award-winning Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra. The repertoire of this Veszprém-based ensemble led by violinist Péter Kováts is quite broad, ranging from the Baroque and Viennese Classical composers all the way to the Romantics and 20th century and contemporary works - Szűcs's concert represents their début in quite a different role.
