The latest edition of Poetry Recitals at Müpa Budapest once again permits a glance into the depths of an incomparable, extraordinary poetic oeuvre, in a sensitive selection by Zsuzsa Takács, a wonderful poet in her own right linked by many threads to János Pilinszky. Drawing on the entire oeuvre of Pilinszky's lyrical poetry, the compilation is also unusual because, in addition to both classic and lesser-known works, the poet's pronouncements, interviews, diaries and confessions also form an organic part of the programme. Besides poems that rank among the classic works of Hungarian lyricism, the evening speaks through these of the topical relevance of Pilinszky, of his personality, courage and Christian faith, of his Redemption of the Irredeemable - also the planned title of the essay introducing this programme - and of the mother tongue of Pilinszky's poetry; the absence of tools, the paucity of form, and the process of accomplishment as impoverishment. We can count on an intense, unsettling evening, the effects of which will doubtless remain with us for a long time.
