The Fairy King, Puck, Titiana, the heroic Prince Iván and the wicked sorcerer who keeps his soul in a magic egg - this concert will feature an encounter with all of these and other fairy-tale characters familiar from music history, in the company of Severin von Eckardstein. After the characters of a popular "fairy opera” have come to life on the stage, the outstanding interpreter of the Romantic piano literature will perform the Piano Concerto in A minor by Robert Schumann. The German composer was himself the creator of his own fantasy world depicting, in so many masterpieces, the nocturnal side of music and its abundance of dreams. The composition being played in the second part of the programme depicts the garden of the evil Koschei, where a story brimming with episodes both charming and alarming unfolds in marvellously rich orchestral colours.
