The Reflected in the Classics series from the Budapest Strings continues in 2012 in the Glass Hall, a beautiful venue for early evening concerts as the light plays on the panoramic vista of the Danube. The concerts offer an opportunity for the audience to become acquainted with the work of three contemporary composers with reference to the classics from which they drew inspiration. The host for the evening is music historian Endre Tóth, who will introduce the works and lead a discussion with the composers themselves. The purpose of the series is to demonstrate that classical and contemporary music are intrinsically linked and can produce a harmonious whole when performed side by side. The Budapest Strings wish to use the series to address the conservative concert audience and engage them in a genuine musical experience without placing too much emphasis on genre or style.
