When the Müpa Budapest cimbalom and tárogató mini festival first began, no one could have imagined these two instruments would become sources of national pride and symbols of Hungary. Of course, though this recognition is well deserved, past praise is worth nothing if we have no concept for the future. Fortunately, experimental virtuosos and innovative instrument makers have been working to ensure that the renaissance of the cimbalom and tárogató is set to continue. Alongside performing musicians who will appear at the 7 pm concert at the Festival Theatre, the cimbalom makers Ákos Nagy and Balázs Kovács, joined by tárogató maker József Tóth, will discuss their latest achievements, the impact of the Sándor Csoóri Programme and other events in conversation with Endre Liber, the creator of the event.
