The Párniczky Quartet's unique style is rooted simultaneously in jazz, contemporary classic music and Hungarian folk music. Bandleader András Párniczky built his repertoire by reworking excerpts from Bartók pieces such as Mikrokosmos, Ten Easy Piano Pieces and Contrasts. Bartók's melodies and harmonies present countless opportunities for jazz musicians to create improvisations. András Párniczky and Péter Bede, playing on wind instruments, have performed together at more than 300 concerts at home and at some of the world's most prestigious venues, like the Guggenheim in New York, the Bravo Arts Festival in Brussels, the Technopolis Jazz Festival in Athens and the Klezmore Festival in Vienna.'Let us be proud - as Hungarians - of Bartók, but just as proud of our jazz musicians, the likes of András Párniczky and friends!' This is just one of many rave reviews of the band, who will be joined this time by two international stars, who, besides being exceptional soloists in their own right, fit right in with the band's unique concept: double bassist Carlos Bica was chosen as Musician of the Year in Portugal, and on drums, Dejan Terzić, winner of the ECHO Jazz award. Tonight's guests have performed or recorded with the likes of Joe Lovano, Lee Konitz, Enrico Rava, Jim Black, Frank Möbus and Markus Stockhausen.
