Now in his mid-fifties, Larry Goldings has already played with the leading figures in the jazz world over the course of his career to date. The trio he formed alongside guitarist Peter Bernstein and drummer Bill Stewart has been a constant in his career, bringing him extraordinary success. As a studio and live session musician, he has had the chance to work with pop music artists like Eric Clapton, John Mayer, Sia, Elton John, Jane Monheit, Eros Ramazzotti and Rod Stewart, in addition to being credited on numerous film soundtracks. His contemporary John Medeski is another true heavy hitter: most people think of him in the context of the Medeski, Martin & Wood trio with drummer Billy Martin and bassist Chris Wood, as well as its expanded quartet version supplemented by guitarist John Scofield. Performing at the tenth concert of the series - for the first time in organ duel history - will be two legendary Hammond organists. Not only will we learn about what makes the Hammond organ so important to the history of jazz, we can also find out what the Müpa Budapest organ inspires two jazz musicians to create. As they play both separately and together, we can count on witnessing them take on improvisational tasks and solos, as well as forming into duos on the Hammond B3 organ and grand organ. Teaming up with musicologist Gergely Fazekas as the other moderator of the evening is Mátyás Premecz, appreciated by the Müpa Budapest audience as one of Hungary's finest players of the Hammond organ.
