The more things change, the more they stay the same with the afternoon talent exchange for the 13th Jazz Showcase! Once again, from 7 to 9 February nine young bands will be on show on two great venues at Müpa Budapest, Banner Square and the Atrium. The most exciting and extraordinary group will be chosen by an international jury of illustrious personalities to win the chance to further display their talents both at Müpa Budapest and beyond.
This event is presented in association with the Hungarian Jazz Federation, the Zemplén Festival and the ELTE Jazz Studies Research Group.
Accessible melodies in an urban environment - songs let off the lead. Since 2016, the trio have been creating emotionally extreme songs with an unusual format, carving a unique space for themselves on the Hungarian music scene. The three members are all much sought-after musicians: fans of the Hungarian music scene may recognise Dániel Ferenc Szabó from Mörk, András Csizmás from Freakin' Disco and Bence Bécsy Bence from the Vera Jónás Experiment and BSW. The band's improvisational instrumental music blends a mix of genres, including classical, experimental, ambient and indie, breaking through an array of style boundaries and conventions. Their creative methods are characterised by experimentation and their songs combine liberated free jazz with electronic soundscapes. Their first EP is expected for release in autumn 2020.
