The more things change, the more they stay the same with the afternoon talent exchange for the 13th Jazz Showcase! Once again, from 7 to 9 February nine young bands will be on show on two great venues at Müpa Budapest, Banner Square and the Atrium. The most exciting and extraordinary group will be chosen by an international jury of illustrious personalities to win the chance to further display their talents both at Müpa Budapest and beyond.
This event is presented in association with the Hungarian Jazz Federation, the Zemplén Festival and the ELTE Jazz Studies Research Group.
The members of Perpetuum met at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in 2017. They soon felt the desire to write and play their own songs. Their style has been labelled experimental art pop, while their music draws on a range of different genres and features elements of jazz, rock, pop, psychedelic music and electronica. They draw inspiration from a variety of life situations, emotions, and everyday events. Their EP Fade was released in March 2019. They won the Budafok Wine Tour Talent Contest in June, before also impressing a student jury to win the award for Best Band at the Mustra contest in Solymár. In August, they gained third place at the Roxiget Festival in Szigetszentmiklós, before winning the Babel Laureate World-Jazz Contest in November.
