The Lilla Orbay Quintet is a newly formed group named after its bandleader. For the Jazz Showcase, their set consists of groove covers, reimagined and re-composed jazz standards and original songs, all complemented with a Latin twist. Their sound is lighthearted and exciting. The strength of the formation lies in the members' unique improvisational skills and rich musical vocabulary.

Lilla Orbay was born into a music-loving family in 1998, but she was the first to choose a career as a musician. Selecting from her father's record collection, she was first fascinated by blues and then early swing, and started writing blues and pop pieces at a very young age. In 2004, she began her musical studies at the Ernő Dohnányi Music School in Pestszentlőrinc, where she studied classical piano for 13 years. In 2017, she was admitted to the Béla Bartók Secondary School of Music, where she passed the vocational educational exam in 2019. She then started studying jazz piano at the same school, where her teachers were Máté Pozsár and Richárd Révész. After the first year of her studies, she was admitted to the Liszt Academy, where she is currently studying. In 2019, she won two awards: second place in the jazz singing category at the 4th National Jazz Competition, and a special prize at the Belvárosi Jazz Competition for her lyrics to McCoy Tyner's Blues On The Corner. In January 2021, she was a finalist in the Young Jazz Musician of the Year competition, traditionally organised by the Hungarian Jazz Association.

This event is presented in association with the Hungarian Jazz Federation, the Zemplén Festival and the Budapest Music Center.
