Cimbalom artist Jenő Lisztes, who rose to global fame alongside Roby Lakatos, is characterised by his incredible precision and bright, clear and pronounced style of playing. His partner Balázs Unger, who started his career as a folk musician, has by now tried his hand in several genres. The members of his band Cimbaliband are believers in musical diversity and their repertoire includes many musical influences from folk to pop. Family members of the two cimbalom players will provide the accompaniment for their joint concert: after all, personal connections are a lot of what makes music successful.
Kálmán Balogh is an important figure in expanding the cimbalom's popularity around the world, and his playing has featured in nearly every musical genre. István 'Szalonna' Pál and his band have created a new composition for this special evening. Tárogató player Attila Gera, in addition to Hungarian music, is also well-acquainted with the world of Balkan music, and will choose from the rich repertoire for the tárogató, which gained unique popularity in Romania in the 20th century. The second woodwind player of the evening, Balázs 'Szokolay' Dongó, has already appeared with Márta Sebestyén, Andrea Rost, and with his namesake, the pianist Balázs Szokolay. His joint programme with István Pál and his band promises to be a great experience for him.
Prior to the evening concert, the audience will have a chance to speak with the performing musicians, as well as with cimbalom makers Ákos Nagy and Balázs Kovács, and with tárogató maker József Tóth.
