The performances of the Budapest Klezmer Band, who are approaching 30 years in the business, have transformed traditional Jewish music into an extraordinary live experience. The group predominantly plays the arrangements of the band's founder and leader, Ferenc "Fegya” Jávori, who hails from Mukachevo (Munkács) in the Ukraine. The audience is cordially invited to their New Year's concert.

The Budapest Klezmer Band are well-known and immensely popular throughout both Europe and America, frequently touring the world and demonstrating their versatility time and again. In January 2000, the Board of Trustees of the Pro Culture Foundation of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences awarded the band the Zoltán Kodály Public Culture Prize for cultivating and disseminating Yiddish musical traditions. In 2003, the band received the Artisjus Award, and in 2014 Ferenc Jávori was awarded the Kossuth Prize in recognition of his outstanding career as a songwriter and performer. In 2015, the Budapest Klezmer Band were awarded the Prima Prize in the Hungarian music category, and they also received the Prima Primissima Audience Award. The band have developed a tradition of holding a large New Year's concert in Budapest, an event that is hotly anticipated by their fans and which this year will be hosted at Müpa Budapest. This evening will provide us with the chance to see a new side of the band, as they serve up a true musical delight for the public with the help of special guests Bea Palya and Balázs "Dongó" Szokolay.
