What do we think of when we see the words "violin concerto” and "violin competition” together? A genre? And if so, who is competing with whom? What are the stakes? And who will the winner be? At this Behind the Scenes concert, we'll get the answers to all of these questions. A violin concerto can also be a kind of competition, in which violinists match up their skills to see who plays better and more beautifully, how their technique is, how expressive and captivating their performance style is, and how faithfully they interpret the composer's ideas. As the programme progresses, we'll also get to learn what competition juries pay attention to and how they choose the musician that they consider to be the very best of the best. The concert offers a glimpse into the work of violin soloists and the process through which students develop into artists, as well as an insight into the medium in which they occasionally demonstrate and compare their abilities in competition with each other.

Between 9.45 and 10.30, we will be running a free (and playful) interactive session for children in the Auditorium entitled Tune-Up. We look forward to welcoming groups and individuals who hold tickets to the subsequent performance. Register by sending an e-mail to csip@mupa.hu, stating the number of participants and their ages, by the Wednesday before the performance at the latest. The activity is recommended for children aged 6 and over, and will take place with a minimum of six children.
