The stars of this series are the 'tools” of music: its instruments. Children attending will get the chance to familiarise themselves with these instruments in the context of authentic live music under the guidance of expert musicians. The last, December concert of this series exploring the many cultures of the world focuses on the music and instuments of the Roma people. At the second concert, a new series entitled Brass Tubes will introduce the audience to the classical brass instruments.

Originally intended simply for storing liquids, the ‘Cegléd jug' has since the latter third of the 20th century also been used
as a rhythm instrument by Gypsy musicians. By slapping its mouth, the air inside is compressed and ‘twanged', giving
the jug a deep, drum-like sound; flicking the metallic body, on the other hand, offers a higher clicking sound.

This series is produced in partnership with the Ethnosound world music instrument shop.
