This semester, we're travelling the world giving children a chance to encounter music of folk origin and rarely glimpsed instruments from different continents at concerts and subsequent instrument presentations. At this first event, they will be invited to try the characteristic percussion instrument of flamenco, the cajón, as well as getting to know the palmas technique of clapping and the special zapateado foot-tapping style used to produce a wide variety of rhythms. The melodies of the Spanish guitar conjure forth emotional dances - and its strings are capable of inspiring everything from the most painful sadness to the greatest joy. Perhaps even the fly swatter and the castanets have a story to tell? Who knows? If you do not believe us, see for yourself!
The Ethnosound world music instrument shop is providing the cajóns for the interactive part of the event.
