Disguises, intrigues, confusion and amore - Rossini's opera is an unadulterated comedy, with a first act that includes no fewer than nine of opera literature's most popular passages. This laugh-a-minute masterpiece - distinguished by constant "explosions” of music and an inexorably advancing plot whose jumbled threads only come together in the final moments - is now being staged by the familiar partnership of conductor/composer Dániel Dinyés and director Pál Göttinger. In their take on it, the audience will be more than a passive - albeit well-entertained - observer of the events: by giving them a glimpse into the creative process, they'll get to play a part in the work's creation while learning backstage secrets. In this studio work, the creative pair and a cast of wonderful singers will hold a "blocking” rehearsal of an imaginary production, starting with an analysis of the music and storytelling and then moving on to the singers' first steps on the stage.
