Two keys fit the lock: a commitment to education and an overwhelming love for music. Together, they open wide the virtual doors of the concert hall. Joining the superb musicians in order to ensure both younger and older childen alike thoroughly enjoy the encounter with the artists will be significant figures involved in informing people about Hungarian classical music. One of Müpa Budapest's primary goals is to preserve our cultural heritage and provide exciting demonstrations of its various artistic branches for young people. One dedicated proponent of this effort is opera singer Sára Banai, who has compiled the programme for the production in relation to the school curriculum. On this occasion, the performing artists and their youthful audience will together examine the poetry of Sándor Petőfi through the lens of classical music, folk poetry, contemporary pop music and beatboxing. How does the language of folk poetry and folk songs present itself in the work of Petőfi - where and how do we see the structure of folk songs reverberate in his verse? Who were his European contemporaries, and are there any similarities in terms of themes or modes of expression? What musical compositions were created at the same time as Petőfi's poems, and how did they elaborate on subjects so close to Petőfi's heart, such as "Szabadság, szerelem” (Liberty, love)? How does contemporary music relate to Petőfi's poems, what kind of musical world might fit with them, and are we ourselves able to create a song from his illustrious body of work? On hand to aid our quest will be the Era Nova string quartet, formed by students from the Liszt Academy, actors Ádám Varga and András Sütő (in alternation), and beatboxer János Jammal Fekete.
