As brief as a Pentecost kingship, as the Hungarian saying goes. Though this particular phrase is still alive today, the custom of selecting a ceremonial king during Pentecost has unfortunately almost completely disappeared. The two-day celebration was once full of magic, expectation, music and dance. Hungarian folk customs are almost as colourful as spring itself, the arrival of which is traditionally anticipated in February, as the lark's birdsong on Zsuzsanna's Day signals the approaching warmer weather. Once again this year, the best time and occasion has arrived to trace the path of spring from Easter to Pentecost with the help of some superb folk musicians and the children's groups of Kistarcsa's Pannonia Folk Dance Ensemble.
