Take four chords, string them together, and the audience is guaranteed to go home from your concert satisfied! The recipe couldn't be simpler, right? Or perhaps not? This is what we will find out on this special occasion that will get the audience involved as they learn things like how Billie Eilish's hits relate to Johann Sebastian Bach and whether it is possible to beatbox to opera. And whether it is permissible to listen to classical music with a ‘light' ear. Our expert musicians say the answer is a resounding yes.

Although we are devoted fans of classical music, we cannot exclude popular music from our everyday lives. But there is no need for that, say - with great conviction - opera singer Sára Banai, the host of the program, and her outstanding fellow musicians: composer and jazz pianist Krisztián Oláh, beatboxer János Fekete Jammal, and the members of the Era Nova Quartet and the Octovoice Ensemble. Instead of drawing rigid boundaries, they believe that pop is worthless without serious musical foundations, and that there is in fact nothing wrong with spicing up classical melodies with elements of popular culture either. The program is organised around the concept of the number four and chords: these inquisitive musicians will give the audience gets a true ‘aha' moment when they recognise very classical roots buried deep in the pop hits they have heard so many times. During this educational adventure tour featuring both music and discussion, we will glide between eras, styles, genres, instruments and classical and contemporary musical styles with effortless elegance. We will also talk about the various types of quartets - the performing kind - as well as whether there are rules for composing music, and how well a composer needs to understand mathematics.
