Why do opera singers sound so strange? Does the conductor know how to play the piano? Did they have rap music in Mozart's time? How is it possible to perform one of the most famous operas in the world in five minutes? These are all important questions that interest the younger generation (and not just them). The aim of the Opera Primer programme is to introduce youngsters now developing an affinity for the opera what the genre has to offer, all done with humour and plenty of audience interaction. This time, we will get to meet Figaro, perhaps the greatest mischief-maker in the operatic literature, and through the eyes of Cherubino, no less.

The far-sighted aim of the Opera Primer programme is to make this genre that many people consider puzzling into something that is more approachable. Performing excerpts from the opera in focus will be young artists accompanied by a piano, not to mention with an updated Hungarian text, which also contains twists that will also be familiar to the young target audience. The production moves the plot of the opera forward to the present day: as the audience grows acquainted with the eternally valid human feelings, complex relationships, conflicts and alliances involved in the work, the medium will become instantly familiar. In the spotlight this time will be Mozart's comic opera The Marriage of Figaro, first premièred 235 years ago. Through the collaboration of the Liszt Award-winning music director Tamás Pál, an Artist of Excellence, opera singer Sára Banai and conductor Dániel Erdélyi, as well as director Tamás Pányik and dramaturg Lili Fabacsovics, it will become a highly modern story. A particularly important aspect of the performance is the involvement of the audience in the plot: our guide will be Cherubino, the owner of a legendary "trousers" role, who, in addition to introducing the other characters, will also cover the specifics of opera singing. Together with the viewers, he will analyse the various situations, along with the feelings and reactions of the characters. As an omniscient narrator, of course, he will also discuss earlier events that took place in the deservedly famous The Barber of Seville.
