This year in April, the Brass Circus awaits children aged 10-14 at Müpa Budapest for a show that is inspired by circus performances and explores the boundaries between music and the art of movement, interwoven with plenty of play and lots of humour. Enhanced by Csaba Méhes's mime artistry, the Brass in the Five brass quintet once again promises an unforgettable shared experience for the youthful audience at the Festival Theatre and accompanying adults.

When the band's members launched the Brass Circus show 16 years ago, one of their primary goals was to introduce children to an unknown side of brass instruments. Those first spectators are now grown up - perhaps it is their own children who will now attend the Brass Circus shows. The group's members, on the other hand, continue to bring new performances to the stage with both childish enthusiasm and the utmost professionalism. The quintet's members really do ‘play' their instruments, showing us that classical music does not always have to be serious music, even if the trumpet, trombone, horn and tuba are more often blown by musicians dressed in coattails or military uniforms. The name Brass Circus is entirely apt: the quintet's members - enhanced by Csaba Méhes's movement and mime - will captivate, astonish and draw laughter from the audience in the same manner as the trapeze artists, animal trainers, strongmen, magicians and clowns of the real circus. Their tools are the brass instruments themselves, the trumpet, trombone, horn and tuba - maybe even the most seasoned music students don't realise how versatile and funny they can be. We will not yet reveal what animals will feature in the show in addition to the tuba tigers and trombone steeds. If you want to find out, you'll just have to come along to the Festival Theatre on 22 April.
