A woman sits in an art gallery and studies a painting. Standing in the doorway is a man, who watches this scene. This is how the La Veronal company starts off its production Siena, which takes the audience off to the Italian city of the title so that we can reflect on the concept of the human body. While the body has always borne the marks of the passing centuries, the arts have always cast the material of the body into a form that artists felt reflected the given age, as they attempted to understand and depict the essence of the era through the body.
The work of Valencian-born choreographer Marcos Morau has appeared in such cities as Barcelona, Valencia and New York, and he has also worked as an assistant choreographer for the Nederlands Dans Theater 2 and the IT Dansa dance ensemble. In 2005, he established the La Veronal company, which is made up of dancers and representatives from the film and theatre and bases its artistic concept on continuous analysis of various areas of the media and culture - film, literature, music and photography. All of this is built on a powerful narrative language, and the company creates universal artistic spaces that shape the inner world of its pieces. Morau has won numerous awards at choreography competitions both in Spain and abroad; and he is credited with creating for his company such successful pieces as Sweden (2008), Maryland (2009), Finland (2010), Russia (2011) and Iceland (2012).

Collaborating partners: Modul-Dance, El Graner, La Caldera, Centro de Artes Performativas do Algarve (Faro), Duncan Dance Center (Athens), Dance Ireland (Dublin)

This production has been made possible through the support of the European Union Cultural Programme as part of the European modul-dance project.
