This performance of Tchaikovsky's masterpiece offers the Live in HD audience, numbering several tens of thousands in more than 2000 venues in 70 countries, the chance to hear the opera based on Pushkin's story as sung by a fantastic cast of world stars. Anna Netrebko has given the most wonderful portrayals of Tatiana seen at the Met in recent years, and will now be returning to this stage in this same fantastic role. Partnere a Mozart-baritonként híressé vált, ám azóta számos más szerepben is közkedvelt svéd Peter Mattei, aki 2008-ban Daniel Barenboim vezényletével énekelte CD-re Anyegin szólamát. Bringing Tatiana's sister, Olga, to life on the stage will be Elena Maximova, who has won over audiences in the stately opera houses of Berlin, Milan, Dresden and London. Doing the same for friend-turned-rival Lensky will be the marvellous Alexey Dolgov, another recurring guest at the Met, while the role of Prince Gremin will be sung by one of the brightest representatives of the current generation of young basses, Slovakia's Štefan Kocán.
This memorable production, which also opened the Met's 2013/14 season, is directed by Deborah Warner, with the Glyndebourne Opera Festival's 34-year-old music director, Robin Ticciati, serving as conductor for the evening.
