Alexei Volodin combines two artistic elements in his playing: a uniquely sensitive keyboard style matched with dazzling technical skill, a pairing that makes him a true Russian pianist in every sense of the word. His career has arced steadily upward ever since he won the Concours Géza Anda international piano competition in Zurich in 2003, and in the meantime he has developed into one of the most sought-after artists of his generation. The Hungarian audience has already had numerous opportunities to enjoy his performances. For this concert, his first at Müpa Budapest, he is preparing a programme of works by Haydn, Beethoven and Chopin.

In the 2019/20 season, Volodin is taking the stage with such renowned orchestras as the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Hamburg Philharmonic and the Royal Philharmonic. The list of prominent composers he has worked with includes Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Kent Nagano and Robert Trevino. Volodin regular performs solo recitals, having taken the stage alone at Wigmore Hall, the Wiener Konzerthaus, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, LSO St. Luke's, Barcelona's Palau de la Música, Mariinsky Theatre. He has also performed at the Philharmonie de Paris, in London's International Piano Series, in the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, at Frankfurt's Alte Oper, and in the Herkulessaal in Munich, Zurich's Tonhalle and the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid. He has long been active a chamber musician, regularly appearing with the Borodin Quartet. The Hungarian audience got to hear his outstanding playing last year at Kaposfest.

We wish to inform you that in the event that Müpa Budapest's underground garage and outdoor car park are operating at full capacity, it is advisable to plan for increased waiting times when you arrive. In order to avoid this, we recommend that you depart for our events in time, so that you you can find the ideal parking spot quickly and smoothly and arrive for our performance in comfort. The Müpa Budapest underground garage gates will be operated by an automatic number plate recognition system.
