There is no need to bother with superlatives. There are no words for Cecilia Bartoli's art and no suitable expression to describe what renders her performances so irresistible. She is simply Cecilia Bartoli, a phenomenon and a singer the like of which is born only rarely. With five Grammy Awards and five more Grammy nominations, she returns to the stage of the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall after a gap of five and a half years, on this occasion to explore the corners of the boundless musical realm of limitlessly imaginative Baroque composer George Frideric Handel, and to sweep us off our feet with her prodigious ability to portray characters, her voice and impeccable technique, and almost unbelievable, passionate virtuosity.
The ensemble Les Musiciens du Prince of the Opéra de Monte-Carlo was formed in 2015 - for the express purpose of accompanying Bartoli at her aria recitals, and the Italian singer is also its artistic director. (Since 2012, she also fills the post of artistic director of the Salzburg Whitsun Festival.) The uniqueness of Bartoli is apparent in the impossibility of categorising her, since she can conjure every note from her throat from a deep alto part to soprano coloratura, as if the delivery of rapid hundred-note coloratura passages was the easiest thing in the world! There can scarcely be a better person today than Bartoli to bring to life the female figures of Handel's historically themed operas, who confront and then triumph over their destiny, and for whom nothing is impossible.

Cecilia Bartoli is an exclusive artist of the Decca Music Group
