The Calvinist Hymns concert, organised annually since 2002, is the largest musical celebration of the Calvinist Church in the Carpathian Basin. The event is held to allow concert recordings to be made of psalms and choral works from the Calvinist hymnbook sung by professional musicians, which are then made available on a new Calvinist Hymns CD and DVD each year, on which the audience frequently sings with the choir. A new Calvinist hymns edition will be released in 2020, so a number of completely new songs will be heard at Müpa Budapest.

Now numbering 300 members, the Carpathian Basin United Calvinist Choir brings together the finest choirs in Hungary, as well as inviting singers from Transcarpathia, Transylvania, Slovakia and Vojvodina each year. Accompanying the combined choir at this concert, which is composed of four sections, each conducted by a different choirmaster, will be renowned organist András Gábor Virágh. Each section will be preceded by a reading from the Bible, delivered by the superintendants. At times, the audience sings together with the chorus at the concert, bringing the number of people singing heavenly praise in Müpa Budapest's Béla Bartók National Concert Hall to as many as 1,700. 'At the end of the night - partly as an expression of solidarity - we all join hands and sing the Hungarian national anthem, followed by an episcopal prayer. We then recite together the Lord's Prayer and an episcopal blessing before leaving this concert hall that has become a sacred space,' says concert director Gergely Böszörményi. The 18 CDs and 11 DVD videos made from the series so far feature treatments of 276 Calvinist psalms and hymns, some of which are written for a single vocal part for use in church services and to allow them to be sung and studied in schools. Others are performed using several vocal parts 'to be presented and preserved as choral masterpieces,' Böszörményi emphasised.
