2018 was the tenth year that the Budapest Festival Orchestra and Müpa Budapest jointly organised an all-day marathon - lasting from morning until late in the evening - of the best work from a single composer. That year also marked the centenary of the birth of Leonard Bernstein, the American composer, conductor and pianist who was also one of the key figures in promoting classical music. In addition to playing his most popular works, outstanding Hungarian performers and ensembles were interpreting ones - some lyrical, others dynamic or with a strong dance or jazz component - by his compatriots This concert, for example, featured Gerswin's Rhapsody in Blue along with Bernstein's famous orchestral work.

This recording was made at a concert held at Müpa Budapest on 4 February 2018.

Presented by: Müpa Budapest
