All three of the musicians playing the Baroque sonatas are members of the Budapest Bach Consort founded by Augustin Szokos. Although still a student at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, Róza Lachegyi has already performed in venues all over Europe, including as a member of the Orfeo Orchestra under Helmuth Rilling. An internationally renowned master of the viola da gamba, Zsolt Szabó started out studying as a cellist, and later honed his skills on the period instrument at classes taught by the world's leading authorities. Since 2002, he has primarily been engaged in playing and researching Hungarian music from the 16th and 17th centuries, with the fruits of his labour appearing in 2005 in the form of his arrangements for his ensemble's fifth album, Kájoni kódex ("Caioni Codex”). Over the course of his decades-long career, he has played with nearly every early music ensemble. Augustin Szokos started out on trumpet and clarinet before earning his degree in conducting at the Liszt Academy. His exposure to performers of historical music, however, had such a profound impact on him that he has since returned to resume his studies, this time in harpsichord and chamber music, while also participating each year in master classes in chamber music and conducting led by world-famous performers such as Rachel Podger, Simon Standage, Barthold Kuijken, Jordi Savall, Michel Laplénie, Helmuth Rilling and György Vashegyi.
