The Congolese-Belgian artist Marie Daulne founded her band Zap Mama in Belgium and went on to become one of the early stars of the world music scene. Zap Mama's music resolutely combines polyphonic singing, African vocal techniques, and harmonious Afropop with hip-hop influences and even elements of neosoul and jazz - it is no coincidence that she has worked together with a wide range of stars from all of these genres. This year, the group is reviewing a career spanning more than thirty years with a best of album while also bringing a brand-new project to the European Bridges festival, one involving a special contribution from K.ZIA. Known for her unique sound combining elements of R&B, soul and Afropop, she is also incidentally, Zap Mama's daughter.

This programme is being organised by Müpa Budapest as a side event to the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
