Though the Kossuth Prize-winning Hot Jazz Band enjoyed their 35th anniversary in 2020, the global pandemic meant their celebration at the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall with their longtime fans will only take place this year. In this gala concert, the group will reflect on the succesful stages of their career and bring their most important milestones to life with the help of a parade of outstanding guest musicians. It promises to be quite the blowout (or 'haccacáré', as they say in Hungarian)!

The Hot Jazz Band's goal is to faithfully present the largely forgotten styles of the pre-war jazz eras in their original form, and also to nurture the legacy of popular music in Hungary. The group's work has also enjoyed recognition abroad, as evidenced by their successes in international competitions, invitations to play in the US and Asia, and concert appearances in a total of 22 European countries. The band strives to bring to life every colour and sound of the genre, and also to expand its basic line-up with other groups. For this show, the special guests will include the Hungarian Banjo Kinds, Europe's only banjo band, while the Hot Jazz Band's ranks will be swelled with some of Hungary's leading swing musicians, namely Tamás Bényei and the Gramophonia Hot Jazz Orchestra. Next on the list is the Leslie Fodor Swing Unit, the solo group of Hot Jazz's extraordinary clarinettist. Last but not least, we have the Hungarian All Stars, founded by Tamás Bényei in 1995 and featuring some of the greatest elder statesmen of the Hungarian Dixieland scene. From the beginning, the Hot Jazz Band has always sought to build relationships with fellow artists. In that spirit, the tap dancing world champion László Bóbis and his colleagues will take to the stage, in addition to the swing dancing world champion Gábor Janicsek and his partner. The show's star guest is Katica Illényi. Lovers of the music of the 1920s, '30s and '40s and Hot Jazz Band fans are sure to enjoy the fabulous atmosphere of this event as we celebrate the eternal rhythms of jazz.
