Today, whether you are a jazz fan or come from further afield, Melody Gardot needs no introduction. Across the world, it is rare to find this kind of phenomenon - a person who, despite facing many hardships and challenges, succeeds in radiating such hope and joie de vivre. In 2018, she performed a selection from her album released in the same year, Live in Europe, and other earlier favourites. Though she was then forced to take a break from touring due to the global pandemic, she was able to pour her creative energies into making a new record. She once again joined forces with producer Larry Klein and arranger Vince Mendoza, who also collaborated on her 2009 record My One and Only Thrill and have worked alongside Joni Mitchell too. Her production team also featured Till Brönner on the trumpet, singer Antonio Zambujo, the saxophonist Donny McCaslin, Dominic Miller on guitar and Vinnie Colaiuta on drums, not to mention a full-scale orchestra of musicians from 30 different countries. The result was the 2020 record Sunset in the Blue, and the video for the album's first single was dedicated to helping selfless health workers and artists in distress during the coronavirus epidemic. In 2022, the singer once again retired to the studio to prepare a brand new album accompanied by a single guitar.
