The members of Symbiosis 5 met at the Liszt Academy and the Béla Bartók Conservatory. Their goal is to create a connection with their listeners using the expressive power of instrumental music. Although their music is heavily steeped in modal jazz, they are fond of employing many other elements as well. Their repertoire consists of their own compositions. In 2021, the band took third place at the Laureate World-Jazz Competition, and in 2022 they won the final at the international Getxo Jazz Competition and Festival in Spain.

Levente Kapolcsi-Szabó has been teaching classical and jazz piano since 2021. In 2022, he began work on his master's degree at the Liszt Academy. Apart from Symbiosis 5, he also works with singer Kriszta Koncz and with Tamás Szarka's band, in addition to leading his own trio. In 2011, at the age of 16, Máté Drippey took first place at the First National Jazz Music Competition as a member of the jazz band of the Tóth Aladár Music School, and in the autumn of 2013 he won first prize at the Fifth National Saxophone Competition. In 2018, he graduated from the Liszt Academy. Since winning a scholarship to study there in 2021, he has been furthering his education at the Haute École de Musique in Lausanne.
Levente Kapolcsi-Szabó, Benedek Virág, Tamás Gyányi and Roland Majsai all earned their BA degrees at the Liszt Academy in 2022. Virág has been teaching classical guitar since 2020 and is also a member of both the Roland Majsai Standard Trio and the Kriszta Koncz Quintet. Gyányi has gained a great deal of experience as a theatre musician as well. He has won awards not only with Symbiosis 5, but also with the Sequence Quartet and as a soloist. Although primarily a drummer, Majsai is also growing increasingly active as a drummer. In addition to Symbiosis 5, he also leads the Roland Majsai Standard Trio. In 2022, he won the audience prize at the Young Jazz Musician of the Year competition.
