Libri Publishers founded the Libri Literary Prize in 2016. It has since developed into one of the most prestigious and well-respected literary awards in Hungary. The prize is awarded for the best literary and non-fiction books of the previous year with the aim of promoting outstanding works of contemporary Hungarian literature.
Former winners of the Libri Literary Prize and Public Prize include the books of some remarkable authors, including Zsuzsa Rakovszky, Sándor Jászberényi, Andrea Tompa, Attila Bartis, András Kepes and Tibor Bödőcs. In 2019, Edina Szvoren's short story collection Verseim (My Verses) took the jury prize, while the readers' award went to Dénes Krusovszky for his novel Akik már nem leszünk sosem (Those We Will Never Be). In 2020, the winners were Krisztián Grecsó and Zsolt Láng with their novels Vera and Bolyai respectively, while Géza Bereményi and Krisztán Grecsó's works won the 2021 awards. Our celebratory show will welcome the two 2022 prizewinners to the Festival Theatre stage. The authors will read from their award-winning works, discuss the creative process and reveal the secrets of their craft to the audience. If you would like to spend time in the good company of the very finest writers, don't miss out on this rare occasion.
