Encounters... (folk music and jazz arrangements)

At the initiative of the great violinist and educator Yehudi Menuhin, UNESCO inaugurated the first International Music Day on 1 October 1975. Answering this still timely call, we are marking this special day of celebration with our own concert of classical and jazz pieces performed by the young students and ensembles of the Tóth Aladár Music School, who have won competitions both in Hungary and abroad. Some of the works to be performed were composed by former teachers at the Tóth Aladár Music School and its predecessor, the Fodor Music School. Playing contemporary works and developing a living relationship between the composer and the performer remains one of the school's key tasks even today.

The event will be followed by a free activity session on Banner Square entitled Reverberation for groups holding tickets to the performance.
