In spite of the fact that the current extraordinary situation prevents us all from meeting at Müpa Budapest in person, we would still like to make the coming days nicer and more uplifting. Unfortunately, the global pandemic has prevented Arcadi Volodos from travelling to Budapest. Instead, the audience of the MVM Concerts - The Piano series will get to hear a solo recital by the young Hungarian pianist Mihály Berecz on Müpa Budapest's website and YouTube channel. Pursuant to the health safety measures that are currently in force, visitors are not allowed to enter the Müpa Budapest building in person. However, by means of live broadcasts, everyone can still take part in the concert experience. The concert will feature a performance of Johann Sebastian Bach's Goldberg Variations.
One of the most outstanding individuals of his generation, Mihály Berecz made his début at the age of 16 in 2013, playing Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major in the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall under the baton of Zoltán Kocsis. This highly successful concert led to numerous other invitations, which have allowed him to collaborate with such conductors as Tamás Vásáry, with whom he performed Liszt's Hungarian Fantasy at the Hungarian State Opera House, and András Keller, with whom he played Debussy's Fantasy and Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major at the Liszt Academy. In 2020, his superb work as a musician was recognised with the Junior Prima Award.
