One of the world's most sought-after and successful pianists, the Prima Award-winning Artist of Merit János Balázs regularly appears in its prestigious concert halls. He is the kind of performer whose ability to bask in the affection of the audience is equal to his professional skill and knowledge. He has worked with such renowned artists and conductors as Mischa Maisky, Tamás Vásáry, Charles-Olivier Munroe and Stéphane Denéve. In the 2013/14 concert season, he won the ECHO Rising Stars Artist of the Season award, overcoming a field of artists from 19 countries. He has performed in many major European concert halls, including the PALAIS DES BEAUX-ARTS in Brussels, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Wiener Musikverein, Barcelona's Palau de Música, London's Barbican Centre, the Konserthuset Stockholm and the Kölner Philharmonie. He has taken the stage with the Brussels, Dortmund and Aspen philharmonic orchestras, the Hungarian National Philharmonic, Dohnányi Orchestra Budafok and the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.
He received both the Junior Prima Award and a decoration from the Republic of Poland in 2011, as well the Ferenc Liszt Award in 2015. In 2016, he founded the Cziffra Festival, which has since developed into one of Hungary's more noteworthy festivals.
