What can make the evening after a lovely summer day even more enjoyable? Music! Especially if we are listening to it in the open air - the way concertgoers at the Müpa Drive-in Cinema get to, watching the musicians' movements and faces on a giant screen in a way they have never seen them before, enjoying the shared experience of music in the here and now, but in the safety of the enclosed space of their cars. The works are summery masterpieces of the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods, seasoned with a pinch of the 20th century for good measure. Performing them will be leading Hungarian singers accompanied by the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra playing under the baton of János Kovács. Will we be there? No doubt about it!

This concert programme offers a diverse procession of treasures one after the other. Anyone looking for works with a summer feel or serenade music to match the atmosphere of a July evening will find the right mood in a movement from Vivaldi's The Four Seasons and Mozart's Eine kleine Nachtmusik. Evoking the magic of the night will be an aria from Dvořák's Rusalka: Song to the Moon. Two hits from Bizet's Carmen exude passionate fever, as does de Falla's ballet suite The Three-Cornered Hat. And there will also be something for those after transcendant seriousness in the form of the poignant Erbarme dich aria from Bach's Saint Matthew Passion and a movement from the Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 And what about moments of grandeur and playfulness? We will also get both of these, guaranteed by one beloved excerpt from each Handel's oratorio and Mozart's The Magic Flute. The singing of Zsófia Nagy, Eszter Zemlényi, Erika Gál, Atala Schöck, Eszter Balogh, Zoltán Megyesi and Szilveszster Szélpál, together with instrumental accompanists, pay tribute to the thousand faces of beauty sparkling in the memorable moments of some of the most popular works in music history.
