What are the Rising Stars concerts about? The discovery, the surprise, the promise of major new talent. But also about other things, of course. It is about internationality, as the young artists are presented by ECHO, the European Concert Hall Organisation, across the continent. And it is about contemporary music, and the spirit of patronage, as each concert features a new composition commissioned for the occasion. This year, we are able to uncover the art of Scottish guitarist Sean Shibe, immerse ourselves in the beauty of German bassoonist Mathis Kaspar Stier, meet a great new string quartet in the Belgian Sonoro Quartet, admire the improvisational ingenuity of Germany’s Sebastian Heindl – and be proud to have another Hungarian participant in violinist Júlia Pusker.
