Metropolitan Opera broadcasts at Müpa Budapest 2018/19

We bring New York to Müpa Budapest!


New season with new experiences straight from the New York Metropolitan Opera: at the highest technical level, with HD quality in Müpa Budapest. The 2018/19 live broadcast series includes two Verdi operas, as well as one piece each from the works of Puccini, Bizet, Donizetti, Wagner, Poulenc, Saint-Saëns, Nico Muhly and Cilea that viewers may enjoy in over 70 countries around the world.

Today, you do not have to watch on the spot if you want to feel a part of the unforgettable performances of one of the world's most notable operas, the New York Metropolitan. Müpa Budapest was the first in Hungary to subscribe to the Live in HD broadcasts of the Metropolitan Opera, thus Müpa Budapest has been providing for a New York experience in Budapest for eleven years now and is awaiting viewers at the Festival Theatre and the Auditorium.

In addition to the high quality, the performances are available in original language with Hungarian subtitles, which enables the audience to enjoy the performances in their full splendour. What's more, during breaks, English-language interviews with the leading singers and fascinating behind-the-scenes secrets help the audience to tune into the next performance.

Many of the Metropolitan world stars have already given unforgettable aria recitals on the stage of Müpa Budapest. The 11th Müpa Budapest season of Met Live in HD starts on October 6 with Verdi's Aida, starring the great Anna Netrebko in the title role with Nicola Luisotti's lead. During the broadcasts, 4 new productions will be available: the opera of Samson and Delilah by Saint-Saëns with Elīna Garanča and Roberto Alagna on stage, Marnie by Nico Muhly with Isabel Leonard on stage, while Adriana Lecouvreur will be starring Anna Netrebko, Anita Rachvelishvili and Piotr Beczała, and last but not least, in the production Traviata, Diana Damrau and Juan Diego Flórez will take to the stage. Puccini fans will readily welcome The Girl of the West and Bizet fans will be glad to see Carmen, but the works of Donizetti, Wagner and Poulenc are not going to be forgotten either.


Tickets are priced at HUF 3,200 and HUF 4,500 each, and Müpa+ Loyalty Program members will get their membership grade discounts for 4 tickets to each performance.
