The Bartók Spring International Arts Weeks festival kicks off on 31 March with a concert by a world-famous conductor!

The Czech Philharmonic, one of Central Europe’s best-known symphonic orchestras, performing under the baton of their conductor, Semyon Bychkov, will open the programme of the third Bartók Spring International Arts Weeks festival, featuring 17 days of premières – including world premières – from 31 March to 16 April courtesy of some of the finest artists in the Hungarian and international art worlds.

Unique even by international standards, this series of artistic events not only pays tribute to Bartók’s singular oeuvre with performances of his compositions, but also represents the manner of thinking he passed down to us through a multitude of genres and productions ranging from early music and traditional folk sounds to contemporary classical music, jazz, world music, dance and pop, while also enriching the cultural life of the Hungarian capital with art exhibitions, music-themed films and professional conferences.

For more details and information about the Bartók Spring programme, consult the www.bartoktavasz.hu website or the festival’s programme booklet.

You can find some interesting information about the lectures in the Bartók Spring Magazine (available online as well).
