Kossuth Award-winning András Berecz first appeared on the scene as the singer for the bands Ökrös, Egyszólam and Újstílus, but has played just as significant a role - and perhaps gained even more popularity - as a storyteller.

There is no disputing this, since what makes his artistry unforgettable is the way song, dance and the story itself are all intertwined in it. His first songs were handed down to him by his mother, the famous Kunhegyes folk singer Mária Tanka, and it is no wonder that he himself passes them on with such special loving care. He will sing them once more on the occasion of his sixtieth birthday to celebrate his 35-year career. Berecz will begin the show with this bit of family history, also performing Nóta songs from his grandfather, Gábor Tanka, followed by songs and dances from the regions of Nagykunság, southern Transylvania, Bihar, Szatmár, Gyimes, Gyergyó, Mezőség, Csuvas and Kalotaszeg. Of course, the great storyteller will also be present: Berecz will regale us with stories of folktales, his first musical instrument, the impossibility of catching trout, and the story of long life and Pista Hazug (Lying Steve). On top of all of that, he'll also show us a few pictures!
