Random Trip is a unique phenomenon on the domestic popular music scene: an improvisational series of concerts spanning generic boundaries (pop, rock, jazz, hip hop, blues, electro, etc.), in which leading lights of the twenty and thirty-something generation of Hungarian pop music take to the stage and lead each other on the most unexpected musical adventures.

Starting in Budapest clubs at the turn of 2008/2009, what began as a weekly club evening has by now "outgrown” its own parameters: it is now a welcome guest at Budapest's biggest concert venues, jazz festivals, major summer music festivals and top clubs in the provinces alike, and the list of performers regularly includes international stars. The leading figures in the series are drummer Jávor Delov and DJ Q-Cee of the Vinyl Warriorz, who are surrounded on each occasion by a varying line-up of musicians.
The year 2017 has been a defining one in the history of Random Trip. In May, the collective released its first album, derived from jamming at concerts, but inspired by tunes still not recorded. What makes the album special is that, although its creation seemingly runs counter to the Random philosophy so far, it succeeds in incorporating the sense of freedom of making music without boundaries into the tighter parameters of the song form. The end result is as fresh and exciting as a genuine Random Trip. Some 50 musicians - among them László Dés, Wolfie, Juli Fábián, Tibi Kiss, Balázs Szabó, Vera Tóth, Lőrinc Barabás, MC Kemon, Viki Lábas, Vera Jónás, Tibor Tátrai, Bea Palya, and Márk Járai - collaborated in the creation of the 18 tracks on the album Zenehíd. Freeing their creative energies to take flight across musical genres, the very best musicians the local music scene has to offer have participated in stamping out a unique imprint of their times.
