The Manchester-based trio's music equally speaks to the heart, the head, and the feet: it is moving and thought-provoking, and it may inspire you to dance as well. Their style incorporates influences from rock, jazz, and minimalism - even the music of video games. In 2014 their record, v2.0, was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in the United Kingdom. They signed to Blue Note Records in 2015 and released the album Man Made Object, their first record under the label, in 2016.
The simple, short, repetitive motifs of the piano, the double bass, which gets some electronic boost, and the massive rhythmic base, combined together create a sound that is unmistakable. Recently they have been on tour with the music they wrote for Godfrey Reggio's cultic documentary, Koyaanisqatsi. Their latest album, A Humdrum Star, was released in early 2018.
