Operating since 2013, Freakin' Disco is a quartet that made it its mission to mingle improvisational freedom with pure electronics, and this obsessive, spacey techno has been developed to perfection over the years. After two albums, a shorter EP, film soundtrack contributions and award-winning clips, this year they will make their debut on the Müpa Budapest stage in front of the ice rink with a highly improvisational show of "chamber electronics” to accompany sweeping across the ice and adding mystery to the wintry atmosphere.

Three-quarters of the formation came together during their time studying jazz and became Freakin' Disco when they were joined by a fourth member. Inspired by a successful improvisation session, they decided to further explore their sound, which at the time was a combination of jazz improvizations and the precision of electronic music. Their second LP, Monster, came out two years after their 2016 debut and proved that there was room to go further, with live techno and psychedelic, spacey music being the main path. 2020, which was recorded live in 2020, is definitely a dance album. In the meantime, the group also recruited a fine core group of artists, who make memorable clips and are also at home in the music used - in addition to theatre collaborations, this year they worked with Lili Walter on the theme song to the film Űrpiknik (Space Picnic). Their music, which knows no stylistic boundaries, is truly unleashed at their Chamber Electronics concerts, which they describe in their own words as something like this: "a form of existence based on improvisational symbiosis”, in which "interconnection takes place with the express purpose of transforming their nourishment into vibrations and waves by the players' collective power, and then, by emitting them through instruments, creating one of nature's wonders, which we call music."
