In Hungary at least, Miklós Vámos needs no introduction. The writer, who is also well-known from his television appearances, has published more than 40 volumes (novels, short stories, plays and film scripts), including his book töredelmes vallomás, published in April of this year, which sees Vámos write about moments from his own life in a sincere and candid yet reserved style. 'Any prose writer, myself included, is stripped bare before the readers on a regular basis, on a daily basis and with every published work,' Vámos said in one interview. He was the first Hungarian writer to recognise the importance of keeping up with digital technologies: Vámos he was to start his own website, in 2000, sponsored by various companies.
Though you rarely catch Vámos with a smile on his face, he says this doesn't mean he isn't passionate, good-natured and doesn't like a joke. As a young man, he even played as a beat musician in the group Gerilla, while he recently picked up his guitar again to occasionally perform in concert with Tibor Bornai, a member of KFT, and János Karácsony from LGT. His partner for this discussion, Erika Náray, and her band will add colour to the programme by performing some of the writer's favourite jazz songs.
Audience members, who will be able to take their seats in the Bohém Restaurant on a first-come, first-served basis from 6 pm, receive a welcome drink and can enjoy dinner before or after the concert.
