Originally from Szombathely and based in Budapest since 2012, Elefánt are one of the pivotal line-ups in the last decade of Hungarian alternative rock music. In 2019, the five-member band came out with their fourth album: titled EL, the carefree full-length record has a more poppy and mature sound than their previous releases. The quintet will be presenting this material in a manner like no one has ever seen before, one promising that the concert will be a collective hallucination, a visual trip that places the songs in a space that adds an extra dimension to them.

Elefánt first drew attention to their unique atmosphere-creation skills with their 2013 début album, when the band's songs were already being likened to film music. The five musicians then swiftly went on to make themselves one of Hungary's most popular acts with an eclectic array of songs and a world of multi-layered lyrics. Their fourth album, EL, which came out in 2019, was created under free and easy conditions, and the effect of this is palpable in the songs. Along with the diversity of the music, the sound became more uniform, with the final result often becoming more hit-like. And the lyrics, expressly nostalgic in atmosphere in places, continued to be profound while leaving much room for interpretation. It is this record that Elefánt will now be playing, and in a manner like never before. 'What we want to achieve,' they say, 'is a visual trip that allows us to place the songs on EL into a space that adds an extra dimension: a set for our non-existent film music. The latter reference comes from our long-time former motto: 'We write film music for films that do not exist.' And this is what we hope to accomplish at our December concert.'
