Sharing centre stage with the cimbalom in the first part of the programme will be the tárogató, courtesey of Péter Makó and Balázs Cserta. Masterful players of several wind instruments, both musicians are among the elite when it comes to this Hungarian instrument that is also known in English as the "Turkish Pipe”. The artists performing at the concert have dedicated the first half of the evening to the memory of cimbalom player and folk music teacher Tamás Petrovits. The concert programme compiled for this occasion by his most outstanding young students, cimbalom players Ferenc Zimber, Dániel Szabó and Tamás Enyedi, is primarily built around folk music and arrangements of folk music, including some gems selected from the works of Béla Bartók and Zoltán Kodály.
The audience will also get to chat with the musicians, as well as master cimbalom-maker Ákos Nagy and master tárogató-maker József Tóth, on Banner Square before the performance.
