The Budapest Klezmer Band has been entertaining audiences since 1990 with energetic performances full of humour, blending a variety of musical influences from around the Carpathian Basin into their own unique, virtuosic style. The members of the band are true masters of their respective instruments, redefining klezmer music across generic boundaries.

The many-faceted, discerning approach this group takes to the distinctive klezmer music of the Carpathian Basin has met with enormous success among audiences in Europe and America alike. The group's distinctive compositions blend traditional Yiddish melodies with elements from Gypsy and other folk music, with an added spice of modernity.
The Budapest Klezmer Band has performed concerts constantly in Hungary since its foundation, and has also been a regular fixture at music festivals and cultural events abroad. The group has toured Europe on several occasions, and has presented its humorous take on the genre to audiences in North America and Israel. Entertaining audiences irrespective of geographical or generic boundaries, the musicians captivate lovers of theatre performances, pop music festivals and classical concerts alike. One of their most noteworthy productions, the "Klezmer Suite” that blends traditional klezmer with classical music, is performed on international tours with the participation of noted domestic and foreign chamber ensembles.
Since 2000, the Budapest Klezmer Band has been awarded 10 different prestigious state and professional accolades and prizes. Over the past quarter of a century, the band founded by Ferenc Jávori - who also holds the Kossuth Prize "for the international popularization of the klezmer style intrinsic to Hungarian musical culture” - has garnered significant acclaim and an enthusiastic following. In 2015, the group also won the Prima Primissima Audience Award, the leading Hungarian prize bestowed by patrons of the arts, established in 2003 for the development of Hungarian scholarship, arts and culture.
