Krisztián Nyáry is one of the most colourful, multi-faceted figures on Hungary's cultural scene. In 2012, he began publishing writings on the lovelives of Hungarian writers and poets on Facebook, rapidly winning unprecedented popularity. Így szerettek ők (This is how they loved) was one of the biggest publishing successes of 2012, just as its sequel of literary lovestories was snapped up in 2013. In 2014, he published a new volume entitled Igazi hősök (True heroes), in which he shares true stories about the exemplary fates of 33 Hungarians of the 19th and 20th centuries. In 2015, he published Merész magyarok - 30 emberi történet (Bold Hungarians - 30 Human Stories), followed in 2016 by Festői szerelmek (Painterly Loves), on the private lives of Hungarian painters. In citations for his numerous awards and accolades, perhaps the essence is best captured by the observation that Nyáry has "brought literary history close to the people in Facebook-Hungary”, ensuring the "permanent removal of hackneyed portraits of writers from the walls of classrooms.”
As what promises to be an extremely entertaining evening takes place, Nyáry is working on a new planned three-part book containing letters from the Hungary of the 19th and 20th centuries, provided with background stories and commentaries. After hearing some of these letters this evening, the book's author will reveal his splendid stage talents by telling the stories behind them.
