In the history of the company, there have been two pieces that, with an ironic tone and charming sense of humour, reflected the real-life situations and social problems in the world around us: one was Homo Ludens, a work from 1996 that was performed by the Szeged Contemporary Ballet for 16 years, and the other was 2009's Homo Hungaricus, which cloaks the 20th history of Hungary in a fable of village life. Also belonging to this series is Absurdia, which offers a glimpse into the unique functioning of an imaginary European fairy-tale country. Its inhabitants, the Absurds, find difficulty and vexation in the simplest everyday things, and even though it is their universal wish to achieve happiness, this appears to be an impossible mission for them.
